sacred heart hospitality

Sunday hospitality after the 10 AM Mass has been operating year-round for many years and is central to Sacred Heart’s parish life. This time is used for fellowship, welcoming new parishioners, adult faith formation, Ministry Day, Christian Service presentations, and informal recruitment for volunteers in various ministries.

It has also provided a time for family activities such as Advent Wreath Making, Christmas Carols, the Easter Egg hunt, and other special celebrations. Hospitality is a time when members of all three missions and parishioners come together. Coupled with Sacred Heart’s Liturgy, it is a key component in creating an evangelizing parish.

The fact that Jesus used meals to connect with and build his followers inspires parishioners to continue to facilitate this mission. A volunteer family provides all the refreshments each week for parishioners, one way in which parishioners can contribute financially to their parish. The office supplies coffee and paper goods.

Contribute

Pauline Burke and Bruce Jackan organize volunteers, replenish supplies, and keep the operation running week after week.

Volunteers select a Sunday to provide the bulk of refreshments for hospitality after the 10 am mass. Some parishioners contribute specialty items such as Dick Gillis's apple cake and Mary Lou Hegarty's Irish bread. Others frequently assist by setting up the pots for coffee and tea. And others contribute funds for the purchase of goods for hospitality.

All contributions are appreciated. Pauline and Bruce work to ensure that new volunteers are assigned manageable tasks, so if you want to help you don't need to worry about feeling overwhelmed.
